Are you preparing for the ITIL 4 Foundation exam and want to clear it in the very first attempt?

What ITIL 4 Foundation and exam overview?

ITIL 4 Foundation is released by AXELOS in early 2019 and it’s the latest version of ITIL. It’s an evolution to the standard set of practices via digital transformation. It also incorporates most of the prevalent technologies i.e. Agile, DevOps, etc. which will give IT operation and strategy teams play an important role in fulfilling the overall business strategy in a more efficient way.

You can attain AXELOS-accredited ITIL 4 Foundation certification by succeeding these steps:

  1. Appear for the exam after completion of training

  2. Score at least 65% or more in exam

  3. Earn 2 ITIL credits after successful completion of the exam

Most important exam tips

Before exam

  1. Practice more and more: One of the important steps during preparing for an exam is to understand the exam pattern and work on some official sample papers and practice questions. Practicing the dummy practice sets will give an idea of a live exam. This will also help in keeping a time check while attempting the questions.

  2. Understand the ITIL 4 Foundation material: It’s very important to scan whole ITIL 4 foundation material once, this will help in achieving some important aspects.

    • Skim the key concepts of ITIL 4 i.e. (value co-creation, service consumers, service offerings service relationships, etc.)

    • Understand Value streams and processes along with ITIL 4 guiding principles

    • Understand some new acronyms i.e. SVS

    • Review the definitions of processes under General, Technical and Service Management practices

  3. If you have access to the trainer, clarify your doubts. Verify if you can relate the ITIL processes and functions

During exam

  1. Contemplate ITIL only: During the exam, many candidates answer the questions according to current or previous organizational practices and ways of working, which can rebound during the examination. 

  2. Time check: Keep an eye on the clock, but don’t panic — the hour perimeter on the exam gives you about 1.5 minutes to answer each multiple-choice questions.

  3. Answer your questions clearly according to the instructions

  4. If time is used wisely, then, in the end, review your questions and answers and ensure you don’t miss out any question.
