The sum of n consecutive integers is 45. Which of the following cannot be n?

**Option:**

**a**. 2

**b**. 3

**c**. 4

**d**. 5

**Solution: **

This problem can be solved by eliminating options.

Let's take option A. So, n = 2

x + x + 1 = 45

2x = 44

x = 22

Option A is eliminated.

Let's take option B. So, n = 3

x + x + 1 + x + 2 = 45

3x + 3 = 45

3x = 45

x = 15

Option B is eliminated.

Let's take option C. So, n = 4

x + x + 1 + x + 2 + x +3 = 45

4x + 6 =45

4x = 39

x =39 / 4

As x has to be an integer, n = 4 is not possible.

**Hence, Option C is correct.**
