If x - 4 is 2 greater than y, then x+5 is how much greater than y?

Option:

a.  1

b.  3

c.  7

d. 11

Solution:

x - 4 is 2 greater than y means

x - 4 = y + 2

x = y + 6

x + 5 = y + 11

This implies x + 5 is 11 greater than y.

Hence, choice D is correct.
